Create a visual model (completed example) scaffold with interactive component that is broken down in simple terms. This gives the students who are visual, kinesthetic, spatial and intrapersonal an example of how to create their own. Backup plan: The students will create an alternative form of presentation via digital tool.
EVALUATE AND EXTEND
Assessment: Create a rubric on rubistar.4teachers.org with specific objectives and tasks for the individual and for the group. This rubric will outline the work that needs to be done to clarify how to earn the grade.

Unit: Nutrition
GOALS Description of the Lesson:
The students will eat a well balanced diet prior to coming to school for three days straight. This lesson will physically demonstrate the importance of good nutritious food. The students will gather information from the internet about how food effects or mind and energy levels. The student will work in a group and create a voice thread.

o Creativity and innovation o Communication and collaboration o Research and information fluency
o Critical thinking, problem-solving, & decision-making o Digital citizenship o Technology operations and concepts
Instructional objective(s): The students are going to eat a well balanced breakfast for 3 days in the middle of the week. Then they are going to keep track of three important things how they feel energy alertness and concentration.
To uncover the importance of how food affects our energy for alertness and mental focus. Create a voice thread that demonstrates communication and collaboration.
Voice Thread inspires creativity by allowing the students to import pictures from the internet, to draw by hand and up load their own as well as scanning pictures too.

They can make changes to the voice thread on their own time outside of the T/TH 11:00-12:00 class time. The students can monitor their project themselves and I can as well.
MONITOR
Ongoing assessment(s): The students will continue to eat nutritious foods a few days a week and track their energy levels on the days they don’t and do adhere to the program.
They can blog on our class website outside of class time to monitor the creation of the voice thread. Accommodations and extensions: Diverse learners will be able to utilize the tutorial that is audio as well as visual to help create the voice thread anytime to clarify if needed. Backup plan: The students can create a power point instead of a voice thread. The class has learned how to create power points earlier in the semester.

Lesson Title: Digital Story Telling
Related Lessons: Obesity
Subject: Physical Education
Grade: Fifth Grade
Unit: Nutrition
GOALS Description of the Lesson:
The students will create a public service announcement that is related to what we have been learning over the past few weeks about nutrition, diet and exercise. One of the students will work on creating an account on teacher tube while the others brainstorm to create the script for the PSA. The PSA will be based on all the information the students have used in their voice thread, and power point. The students will gather information from the internet and activities that will prevent obesity.
Content Standards: 5.6 Identify and demonstrate effective practices for working with a group without interfering with others.
ISTE NETS-S
o Creativity o Communication and collaboration o Research
o Critical thinking, problem-solving, & decision-making o Technology operations
Instructional objective(s): The students are going to use a KWL chart and view my voice thread for basic information to go along with the research they have done on other projects. Then they are going to go to the computer lab 3 times a week for two weeks to create, shoot, and edit their PSA. As a final product the students will upload their PSA on to teacher tube after being approved.
Creating this PSA will demonstrate creativity, critical thinking and technology operations. The PSA also demonstrates communication and collaboration.
